S’mores have always been one of those treats that feel like pure comfort. Whether it’s the sticky marshmallow fingers, the perfect golden toast, or the way melted chocolate brings it all together. So when Crimson Cup asked me to create a stop motion project around this nostalgic favorite, I knew it was going to be a fun one.
I started with the basics: graham crackers, marshmallows, and chocolate. But instead of just styling them flat, I wanted to bring them to life with movement and storytelling. Stop motion is such a unique way to showcase food because it makes even the smallest details, like a drizzle of chocolate or a marshmallow puffing up—feel playful and magical.
The most exciting part of the setup was incorporating flame. Fire isn’t something I usually get to work with in stop motion, but it added just the right amount of drama to the scene. The flicker of the flame made the s’mores feel authentic, almost like you could hear the crackle of a campfire in the background. It was a fun challenge to balance the lighting and keep everything safe while still capturing that cozy campfire vibe.
When everything came together, the final piece was a blend of indulgence and nostalgia, perfectly paired with a Crimson Cup drink. The stop motion not only highlighted the flavors but also told a story, one of warmth, comfort, and those little moments that make us slow down and enjoy.
Projects like this remind me why I love what I do. Photography and stop motion aren’t just about pretty visuals. They’re about creating feelings and experiences people connect with. And for me, bringing the cozy sweetness of s’mores to life for Crimson Cup was the perfect recipe for creativity.
