My entrepreneurial journey started during my summer breaks from college in my childhood home decorating initials & selling them at the local craft fair. "Initially Yours" was the start of something that blossomed into a passion that I never knew existed.
As I explored different business minors to compliment my marketing degree, I took a class in entrepreneurship & was immediately hooked. It was the first class that I actually read all of the books and looked forward to learning #allthethings. (I feel like I should note that I graduated magna cum laude even without reading all of my homework assignments haha). I was a hard worker throughout my time at Miami but knew that I didn't want to work my days away behind a computer; I wanted a way to unleash my creativity.
During the fall of my junior year I decided to buy one of those fancy cameras, you know the kind where the lenses come off? (that's what I thought was cool at the time). I thought that if I could just earn the $700 back by taking photos of my sorority sisters that it would be worth the investment for a fun hobby. Before I knew it, though, I'd earned back that and more. People started paying me for my services and by the fall of my senior year, I'd booked my very first wedding and officially filed for my LLC.
Fast forward a few years and I was able to grow my business to a point where I could quit my day job and pursue it FULL TIME. Over the years I've been able to capture over 100 love stories, document countless seniors & families all while educating other photographers on how to become refined second shooters. Our online community has grown rapidly and we're reaching photographers across the country.
I can’t believe that I’m actually typing out these words, but Cory and I are engaged! We have had so much fun during the first few weeks of this new season, and I’m finally taking some time to share the proposal story with you. Cory jokes that I planned my own engagement because I did! I had been texting with my sweet friend, Stephanie, about doing a couple’s photoshoot swap...
As most of you know, I recently went full time with Kelsie Lynn Photography. I’ve been asked by so many people about what that process looked like and I figured I’d write a blog post that gives you a glimpse into my heart behind the decision. For the past 2 years, I’ve been working a demanding full time corporate day job, on top of a full time schedule...
Friends, I am SO EXCITED to share that I’m officially a homeowner!!! This process has been such a rollercoaster, but 100% worth it in the end. The housing market in Columbus is absolutely INSANE. It seemed like every house that I was interested in would be under contract the day it went on the market before I ever had a chance to go see it...
If you’ve been following my journey, you’d know that I’ve always been very open with my faith. This business has been such an incredible journey watching how the Lord’s been faithful over and over again. I’m a strong believer in Jesus and view my business as a platform for ministry. I love sharing about the gospel and have a huge heart for reaching those...
