When I work with brides to create their timeline, I am intentional about centering portrait time around the best light. Now obviously that doesn’t always happen, especially when first looks occur at 2:00 in the afternoon! However, there is one thing that I will always suggest to my brides, and that is sneaking away from your reception for 10-15 minutes for a few sunset portraits. There are so many reasons why I love them.
These are probably the only images that will have the beloved “glow” in them because they’ll be taken during golden hour. This look is something that so many people are looking for in their portraits, yet the only time of day that you can capture this usually occurs during the reception.
After you are finally married, there is hardly any time for you and your husband to relax because you’ll be thanking your guests and dancing the night away. These portraits allow you to sink into the moment and spend a few quiet minutes alone with your husband.
Usually, the sunset portraits end up being some of my favorites from the entire day! Maybe it’s the glow, maybe it’s the joy, but either way, they are sunset portraits and that’s all that matters. Trust me when I say this, no one will notice that you are gone, so a few minutes is totally worth the beautiful portraits that you’ll receive!!
