I am so incredibly thankful for the creative gifts I’ve been given. But let’s be real, I wouldn’t be able to do any of this if it weren’t for Jesus. Do you know why? I am a creative because He is the ultimate creator. I am a child of God and was created in His image, God’s image. “So God created man in his own image; in the image of god He created him; male and female He created them.” Genesis 1:27. As a creative, I am reflecting His image, because he is a creative too! I can create beautiful images of His children because he’s given me an opportunity to see them through His lens.
I can love my clients because God is love. “Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love” 1 John 4:8. One of my favorites parts of this business is loving on my clients and making sure they feel loved throughout this special season of life. They are beautiful (and handsome, for all the groom’s out there! I’m not leaving you out of this!) and I want them to feel that way. Whether that’s getting a surprise in the mail or spending some extra time on their gallery to make sure it’s perfect, I’m going to go the extra mile for my couples because Jesus has done, and will do, the same for me.
I can serve others because He is the ultimate servant. “For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many” Mark 10:45. On your wedding day, please don’t think of me as just a vendor. Instead, think of me as an extension of your bridal party that is there to carry your bouquet, remind you to touch up your lipstick or help bustle your dress. Being a wedding photographer is so much more than just taking beautiful pictures. It’s about serving your clients in a way that makes them feel so loved, and capturing their day in a way that they will cherish for years to come.
I am Kelsie, because He created me just as I am. By finding my identity in God, I can find my true self. I no longer have to worry about my performance, or the opinions of others. God doesn’t create worthless art, he creates masterpieces. “For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.” Ephesians 2:10. Friends, please don’t let anyone tell you otherwise! The Lord created you and me perfectly imperfect. He knows our flaws and He loves us anyway. He knows the desires of our hearts and has plans for our lives that will far outweigh anything that we could want for ourselves. He knows what our strengths are and wants us to use that to Glorify his name. I’m choosing to Glorify Him through my business, because he is in the business of saving grace and that’s really all that matters. <3
