Second shot for Jenn Manor Photo.
After picking your dress, choosing your flowers, tasting the food and of course, the cake, one of the last things on a bride’s mind is where she’s going to get ready. After all, you’ve spent so much time planning for this special day, that I want it to be captured beautifully! Last year, I shared a few tips for brides as they are getting ready, but what if you are still looking for the perfect room? As I mentioned in the previous post, getting ready rooms should have as much natural light as possible. The more windows, the better! If possible, also try to avoid brightly painted walls. If you get ready in a lime green room, your pictures will have quite the green tint that would be extremely difficult to edit out. It’s also important that the room is free from clutter. We want the emphasis of the pictures to be on you , not your junk! If it is still early on in your planning process, I highly recommend that you consider these three different types of getting ready rooms.
1. Rent an Air BnB. This one may seem a little bit strange, but I promise you brides are doing it! What a fun way to spend your last night as a bachelorette, having a sleepover with your closest friends! You can find some really cute Air BnB’s and for a really great price.
2. Stay in a hotel. This one is a really popular option with a lot of brides. The rooms are always clean, there are big windows, and there’s typically beautiful white bedspreads and a lot of space to move around. You don’t want to be crammed into a tiny room with all of those girls! Plus, hotel room is the perfect place for a beautiful dress shot!
3. Get ready in your parent’s home. This one would be perfect if you’re getting married in your home town. You can have brunch there and it helps ease the day-of nerves. I would recommend getting ready in a common room with lots of space and lots of windows. I promise, I’ll make sure your neighbors aren’t peeking in through the windows (hehe)!
The benefit of these three options is that, depending on if you’ll be staying your wedding night in these rooms, you can just leave your things without worrying about picking anything up or forgetting something! It makes things go a lot smoother on the wedding day, and you are more relaxed to have a beautiful space to prepare yourself for walking down the aisle. However, these aren’t the only good places! Any room could be beautiful as long as it has a lot of natural light, and it is free from clutter. Happy planning!
