As in any industry, there are busy seasons and slow seasons in photography. And most of the time, the peaks of both are drastically different from each other. To give you an example, during the slow seasons of my business, I may not have any paid shoots to edit so I’ll choose to focus on building my business and investing in education. During the busy season, I may have multiple sessions and weddings during one week and I could be 10 or more sessions deep in editing. It’s times like those where the struggle is real (like SO REAL friends), and photographers often feel overwhelmed, drained and ready to give up.
However, it’s times like those where it’s so incredibly important to remember that although the struggle so incredibly real, it doesn’t mean that God isn’t. Although it seems like you’re in this business all alone and all of the work lies on your shoulders, it really doesn’t. There is God who loves you more than you can impossibly imagine and who wants to cary that burden for you. It’s times like these where giving Him your anxiety and stress gives you so much freedom. Isaiah 41:10 says “Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.” This is so encouraging to me because no matter worn out, burdened or weary we may be, we know that Jesus will give us the strength we need to keep on going, to keep on serving our clients with a joyful heart.
Imagine a living a life with purpose, knowing that each and every decision you make has an impact. Imagine feeling the weight of the world lifted off of your shoulders when you know that the Lord is there to carry your burdens. Imagine the feeling of freedom when you realize you are showered with grace day after day after day. You will have a sense of hope, a sense of purpose and you’ll know that when the struggle is real (because it definitely will be at times), so is God and he’s right there in the trenches helping you get through it.
