Friends, I am SO EXCITED to finally share about the Refined Second Shooter Workshop! Michelle and I started planning for this day months ago. We spent many months planning, lots of emails and late nights working to refine our content and get everything prepared. While I’ve hosted workshops in the past, I’ve never done anything educational like this! I’m incredibly thankful to have had a Michelle to pull this off together. This workshop started out of a need that we saw in our community. We saw a gap and knew that with a little bit of work (ahem, a LOT of work haha) we could create something to fill that gap and all around improve our community of photographers! We didn’t know if anyone would sign up, but we launched anyway. Michelle and I were blown away that 13 photographers chose to invest in themselves and their business by attending the workshop!
The day was packed with educational content, and our attendees got to practice all of the things that they learned at the gorgeous styled shoot! We decided to go with a Kate Spade inspired theme – are you surprised? – so we had black and white stripes with pops of color everywhere! we absolutely LOVE how everything came together! So many amazing friendors partnered with us to bring the day together:

Michelle took these images of our welcome boxes for our attendees! Thank you Anna for the below behind the scenes images from Workshop day! There was SO MUCH going on and Michelle and I were completely focused on the education that we didn’t have much time to take any behind the scenes images or ensure that the day ran smoothly. We cannot thank Anna enough for everything she did to ensure that the event ran flawlessly. She did everything from bringing us lunch, making last minute Kroger runs to helping Hanna get into the gorgeous dress. Plus, Anna is an INCREDIBLE photographer and took some additional photos of the styled shoot so that we have more images to share with our vendors. Anna took the below pictures, and Michelle edited them to share with our vendors.
After the first three education blocks, it was time to photograph the styled shoot! For most of this time, I was playing the role of the second shooter. So almost everything that you see here is possible to capture as a second shooter on a wedding day!
And of course, the beautiful tablescape! Petals and Leaves Florist did an incredible job with the florals!
And now for the true behind the scenes… my favorite!! Thank you Anna & Michelle for capturing these. Can you spot me in the second and third images below? haha!
Don’t mind my blowing hair, but this, friends, was a teachable moment. Lesson learned?? ALWAYS HAVE A BACKUP. ALWAYS. Cameras die sometimes, that’s just life. It’s your job to be prepared to keep things going smoothly! No one even knew it happened til I told them haha And no, I’m really not THAT happy about having to get my camera fixed… But at least I have a backup for my backup haha
Testing out all of our OCF modifiers!
And last but not least, here are some of my pictures from the Reception lighting part of the workshop!
And that’s a wrap… thanks for joining along! We can’t wait for the next opportunity to share this content. Want to be the first to hear about another possible workshop (hint hint), free downloads, etc.? Sign up for the waitlist on our website here!
