When my sweet cousin Jenny asked if I’d be willing to travel to Indianapolis for her engagement session with Sterling, I was so excited! I’ve been to Indy one time before but couldn’t wait to explore the downtown area to see everything that it has to offer. Luckily, I was able to get in town early enough to grab lunch with a sweet friend and location-scout for the afternoon. Jenny & Sterling wanted their photos at the Canal Walk, the Monument Circle, and then a garden area. My friend drove me around all afternoon and I found some major GEMS that ended up turning out beautifully for their session!
We found this amazing view of the skyline along the canal walk and the cutest little bridge. Jenny & Sterling were pretty much up for anything, and that made my job so easy! By the end of the session, we were quickly loosing light and still had one more outfit to go. Unfortunately, the original garden we were supposed to go to was closed, so I frantically did some googling and found a small park nearby. The park ended up being next door to the hospital downtown, and as we were walking towards it, I saw this gorgeous little courtyard filled with the prettiest pink bushes! So the last location of this shoot was literally at the hospital and I can’t complain because it is GORGEOUS!! Honestly, some of my favorite portraits I’ve taken this year were at that hospital, and I was able to really push the limits of my camera because the sun had pretty much set by the time we arrived. I’m really happy with how they turned out!
If their engagement session is any indication of Jenny & Sterling’s wedding, it’s going to be BEAUTIFUL! I cannot wait to document it next summer.
