I had the pleasure of working with the wonderful Hess family during their fall family session. This adorable family of 5 showed up excited to start the session all looking lovely in their fall yellows, greens and blues.
My favorite family photos are the ones where everyone’s personalities are shining through. As much as we love photos with all the kiddos looking at the camera, sometimes the best photos are actually the ones where you’re all looking at each other, having a tickle fight or tossing your little ones up in the air. By documenting your family as it truly is (chaos and all) and not stressing over whether or not everyone is on their best behavior, you’ll end up with more authentic photos rather than trying to force a smile. So during my fall family session with the Hess’, it was my goal to get at least a few of those types of pictures.
The weather that day could not have been any better. The fall foliage popped, and the sun was shining brightly giving us so much beautiful natural light. We started with the entire family doing some sitting and standing poses with beautiful trees in the forest. After that I could tell the kiddos were dying to play in the leaves so we started doing some natural pictures of the kids doing what they were comfortable with. Big sister skipped through the leaves, big brother loved hearing the leaves crunch beneath his feet and baby brother was a fit of giggles as he threw the leaves. Once we were done playing in the leaves we moved to a different part of the forest so I could capture a few shots of the kiddos alone with mom or dad.
The Hess family fall session was a blast and I look forward to taking your family photos next!
