Bright & airy? β Dark & Moody? π Bold & Colorful? π
There are SO many ways to describe an editing style… and if you’re not a photographer you may have no idea where to start.
One of the things that I always ask brands is: What is your preferred editing style? While I personally love the bright, bold & colorful style of photography, I know that does not align with everyone’s brand. And that is okay!
If you’re struggling with communicating how you want your photos to be edited, this post is for you! Here are a few buzz words that I might use to describe each category of edits.
πΒ Bold & Colorful: rich blacks, true to life colors, saturated, accurate exposure, bright, contrast, shadows aren’t too heavy or to lifted
β Bright & Airy: light, bright, higher exposure (or over exposed), light shadows, not heavy, lifted, less contrast, not very saturated, muted, hot highlights
Β π Dark & Moody: Deep (or lifted) blacks, grainy, darker exposure, muted tones, less saturation, contrasty, heavy shadows
Knowing the editing style also helps me choose the backgrounds & props in your photos… so this is super important to make sure we get right. Try using some of these words next time you are communicating what you want your photos to look like!
I make sure to always over deliver to my clients and make their vision become a reality. If your product needs sprucing up contact me for all your rebranding needs.
