A Country With All of my Favorite Things

The last two weeks of January I had the incredible opportunity to travel with The Justification of Youth and Kids Alive International (KAI) to Caraballo, DR and love on the kids at the KAI care center. These sweet kiddos are filled to their ears with joy, and oh how it is contagious! That would seem normal, but if you only knew what their circumstances were outside of school, then it would seem mind boggling…

Sometimes pictures tell a better story

When I come home, one of my favorite things to do is snuggle with Daisy. She is the world’s must cuddly dog and just loves for you to sit next to her and rub her chest or belly. However, she is also full of so much energy, so we take her for 3-5 mile hikes every day (that usually involve swimming!) so that she can run wherever she pleases and find giant sticks to play with…

The manual labor on this trip truly was labor of love. Our team worked so hard, but it was easy to work hard when you knew how the product of your labor would affect the children. Our main project for the trip was to mix and pour the cement for the pillars of the second story of the new school building. This school is going to serve as a trade school so that students can study to be a dentist or learn about technology so that they can better serve their communities in the future…
