Growing up in church, the phrase “God’s will for your life” was thrown around way too often. I’m not the best at making big decisions. I contemplate the pro’s and cons, while evaluating every possible scenario that could come from the situation. Even after being confident that the Lord is leading me in a certain direction, I sometimes can’t help but wonder if the decision I made is part of God’s will for my life. Over the years, I’ve  listened to sermon after sermon covering this topic and have a few points that I’d love to share:
1. If your passion is biblical, then it is from the Lord. As long as you don’t want to break any laws or do something that isn’t in accordance from the Word, then I say go for it. In my case, I’m pretty sure photography and starting a business fit within that description. 😉
2. Can your passion be used to further the Kingdom? YES!! I’ve chosen to use my platform as a business owner, photographer and blogger to share my heart for the Lord with my clients. Not everyone chooses to do that, but I knew from the get go that I wanted a platform to do so. And the Lord certainly provided!!
3. Does this passion reap the fruits of the spirit? (if that doesn’t make sense, sorry haha) This last part connects back to last week’s post (which you can find here). Do the fruits of the spirit freely flow from your heart as a result of pursuing this passion? Do you experience love, joy and peace? Are you kind, gentle and patient? All of these characteristic are from the Lord. My photography business is one of the biggest sources of JOY in my life, and I am confident that this joy is purely from the Lord.
All good things in this broken world come from our heavenly father, and for that I am so incredibly thankful for all that he has provided me. I’ve had the opportunity to nurture this passion of mine over the last year or so, and it’s something that I am so deeply passionate about. It is so crazy that the Lord has given me such a strong love for something that is being used for His glory. That’s when you can be confident that you are on the right path and the choices you are making are aligning with the Lord’s. And my goodness it is such a good feeling!
