I am on a mission to decorate my apartment on a budget. With my styles changing so frequently, I am very intentional about spending my hard-earned money wisely and not buying hundreds of dollars worth of new decor (although it is soooo tempting!!). This process has taken me much longer than I anticipated, but that’s due to the fact that I’ve been shopping around for deals, I’m waiting for things to get shipped to me and I am not wanting to spend all of my money at once. But I promise, the final product is going to be FAB 🙂
One thing that I’ve been collecting over the years is picture frames. I always have some sort of gallery wall, and as a photographer, I can never have too many picture frames! My family knows this all too well and has been collecting old picture frames from their homes for the last few years. Honestly, we have boxes full of hundreds of frames in our garage. I’m not kidding! These frames have been an essential element to my decorating, and you know what my secret is? SPRAY PAINT!! You wouldn’t believe how easy it is to give a new life to an old dusty frame, simply by spray painting it a new color. If you remember my blog from a few weeks ago, I shared my Pinterest vision board for the inspiration for my room. The main color scheme is navy and white with pink, teal and gold accents.
For my room, everything is gold. My frames are gold, my vase is gold, my lamps are gold and I even have a gold pillow. I can’t get enough. But, do you know how expensive gold accessories are nowadays? Let me just tell you, they certainly don’t fit into my shoestring budget! So, I invested in a nice $3.50 can of spray paint and went crazy. Thankfully some of the picture frames that I’ve collected were already gold, but I painted a few black ones gold and am so excited to start decorating my shelves above my desk with them. It’s going to be adorable, I promise!
Well friends, that’s my secret. A cheap can of spray paint can make anything look classy! Even this $0.99 vase from goodwill. Now that’s a steal 😉 You’ll just have to wait a few more weeks until I can share everything all put together. I promise it will be worth the wait!
