I am so excited to start a brand new blog series to help brides early on in their planning process! I’ve photographed at a variety of venues around the Columbus and Dayton areas, and recently, have really enjoyed connecting with local venues here in central Ohio. Over the next few months, I’ll be featuring Ohio wedding venues on the blog. The first stop on this tour is the Jorgensen Farms wedding venues: Historic Barn & Oak Grove.Â
Owned by 4th -generation farmer Val Jorgensen, Jorgensen Farms is comprised of over one hundred acres of land. When Val first opened the farm to the public in 2002, she didn’t have intentions of it becoming a wedding venue (hard to believe, as it’s the perfect place for it!). Early events focused on farming education and a farmers market, and eventually became a gathering place where local chefs hosted unique gastronomic events. Although it is now a popular wedding venue, the Jorgensen family takes pride in its continued operations as a working, organic farm!
There are two spaces available for weddings, which are separated quite a distance by the farm.
The first is the Historic Barn and its surrounding structures. This option is best for the traditional and outdoorsy bride. There are options for both indoor and outdoor ceremonies, with many brides choosing to host their ceremony outdoors in the Flower Field. The Main Barn offers the perfect space for the reception, while the Potting Shed and Patio make for a great cocktail hour. Note: the Historic Barn will be closed in November 2021 for renovations, and will be reopened for bookings in 2022.
The second space and newer of the two is Oak Grove, which offers a more refined setting. It’s signature feature is its historical Greenhouse, which is perfect for the bride who wants the feel of an outdoor ceremony without taunting mother nature. I love this space for the natural light during the day. There is still a place for outdoor ceremonies in the Courtyard, and Grace Pond makes a beautiful backdrop for photos. At Oak Grove, most receptions are hosted in the modern Main Hall.
Both venues can accommodate up to 250 guests, but for the Historic Barn, 200 will be more comfortable. Onsite parking is ample.
Both the Historic Barn and Oak Grove come fully staffed, including a professional event coordinator (ladies trust me, you do need a coordinator, and it’s so nice that you’ll have one who is intimately familiar with the venue!). Each wedding day is assigned their own coordinator who is there to support you throughout the planning process and on your wedding day. Brides, trust the planning process with your coordinator for a stress-free experience! Staff also provides setup and cleanup of venue-provided tables, chairs, and linens.
With a working farm, you better believe that Jorgensen has it’s own catering company! They serve food that’s locally sourced, picked fresh from the farm, and meeting high standards for being environmentally friendly.
Jorgensen also offers bartenders, but the wedding party brings its own alcohol. On-site floral services are available, but you aren’t required to use them. For even more of the farm experience, you can add guided farm tours for you or your guests!
If you are interested in booking one of Jorgensen Farms’ wedding venues, email them today at [email protected] for an onsite tour and a review of their package options. They book really quickly, with Saturdays being the first to fill up. They have already begun to book 2021 and 2022 weddings!
