I can’t believe that I’m actually typing out these words, but Cory and I are engaged! We have had so much fun during the first few weeks of this new season, and I’m finally taking some time to share the proposal story with you.
Cory jokes that I planned my own engagement because I did! I had been texting with my sweet friend, Stephanie, about doing a couple’s photoshoot swap for weeks. We picked out the date (2.29.20 – leap year!), the location, the time, everything.
Cory and I showed up to Hoover Dam as planned and we were the first to have our photos taken.
We were only one pose in before Stephanie asked us to do the sneak attack pose. For those of you who aren’t familiar with this, it’s where the guy will sneak up behind the girl and surprise her, tickle her, spin her around, etc. It’s one of my favorite ways to draw out genuine emotions. Still at this point, I had no clue that Cory and Stephanie had something else in mind.
Little did I know, Cory was down on one knee behind me. He said he felt like he’d been there for minutes and needed me to turn around. So he did what he always does and gave me a little butt tap haha (side note: I looked at the time stamp on the photos and he wasn’t even on his knee for a whole second before he tapped me!) and… the rest is history!
Considering it was FREEZING outside, after we got engaged, we hopped back in the car to warm up before venturing back out for a few more photos.
Cory still had a few things planned, though. First, we popped some champagne!
Then, Cory brought out a chair and said that one of the first things that he wanted to do for me as my fiance was to wash my feet as a reminder that he will always love me fiercely & serve me humbly.
PS… did I mention it was cold??
Then it was my turn!
After we washed each other’s feet, Stephanie took some more photos of us and oh the joy! I LOVE these photos so much, and am so thankful that she was there to capture these moments for us!
Once we were done taking photos, we drove back to my house to call our friends and family. But again, Cory had other plans! He invited both of our families over to my house and they set up an engagement party for us! What an amazing surprise! It was so much more fun to tell them our news in person.
What a fun day! I wouldn’t have changed a thing… it was absolutely perfect. Thank you, EVERYONE, for making this day so special. We are incredibly excited!
