There is something so special about a senior session when the weather cooperates, the flowers are blooming, and the sunshine decides to show off at just the right time! Makenna’s senior session at the Park of Roses was one of those beautiful evenings where everything came together perfectly. We had gorgeous weather, beautiful flowers, and the sweetest golden sunshine to make her senior portraits shine.
Makenna was wonderful to work with, and we had so much fun exploring the gardens, walking the trails, and switching up her outfits to create a gallery full of variety. The Park of Roses is such a beautiful location for senior pictures, and Makenna’s session was the perfect example of why I love photographing seniors here!
We started Makenna’s senior session with a cute little sundress that was perfect for wandering through the flowers. With the gardens in bloom and the sunshine peeking through, we were able to capture those soft, natural portraits that make spring and summer senior sessions so special.
One of my favorite things about photographing seniors at the Park of Roses is how many beautiful backdrops we can find just by taking a little walk. Between the colorful flowers, greenery, and winding garden paths, there is always something new to discover. It creates the perfect setting for portraits that feel natural, timeless, and full of personality.
Makenna looked absolutely lovely among the flowers, and the sunshine added that extra touch of warmth to her images. We took our time exploring the garden and capturing a mix of portraits, letting the beautiful surroundings complement her look without taking away from the star of the show!
Next, we made our way down a grassy trail for a completely different look. Makenna changed into a pair of jeans and a cute little top, giving us a more relaxed and casual style for the next part of her session.
I always encourage my seniors to bring a few different outfits because each look helps tell a different part of their story. A sundress might give you that soft, romantic garden feel, while jeans and a favorite top can bring out a more laid-back, everyday personality. Having both styles in a gallery gives you a wonderful mix of images to look back on.
The grassy trail was a great spot for this outfit. The natural greenery created a beautiful backdrop, and the change in scenery helped give her gallery a fresh look while keeping everything cohesive. Sometimes, the simplest locations end up being some of my favorites because they allow a senior’s personality to really shine.
Of course, we couldn’t pass up the opportunity to capture some portraits in front of the water fountain! The fountain added another beautiful element to Makenna’s gallery and gave us a classic garden setting that felt a little different from the flower beds and grassy paths.
I love finding little pockets throughout a location that allow us to create something unique. Even within one park, changing the background, lighting, and outfit can make a gallery feel like we visited several different places.
The Park of Roses is wonderful for exactly that reason. You can have colorful floral portraits, relaxed outdoor images, and elegant garden-inspired photographs all within one location. It is such a great option for seniors who want a variety of looks without having to travel all over Columbus.
For Makenna’s final outfit, she chose green and white linen pants, and I absolutely loved how they looked against the yellow flowers!
The colors complemented the natural surroundings beautifully. The green tied in with the surrounding foliage, while the white added a light, fresh feel. And those yellow blooms? They provided the perfect pop of color to bring everything together.
This final look was such a fun way to finish her session because it gave us another style and color palette to work with. I love when seniors choose outfits that let them have fun with their photos while still feeling comfortable and confident.
Between the different outfits, garden settings, and gorgeous evening light, we were able to create a gallery that felt varied, colorful, and true to Makenna. And with the sunshine showing up at just the right time, we couldn’t have asked for a better evening!
Makenna, thank you for such a wonderful senior session! It was a joy spending the evening exploring the Park of Roses with you, capturing your different looks, and enjoying that beautiful sunshine. Your session was full of lovely colors, natural moments, and so much variety, and I hope you love looking back on these memories for years to come.
