Making A House A Home

Winter at A Home Built For Joy

Well friends, ask and you shall receive! I apologize that it has taken me SO long to show you around my home, but I thought that I would give you a little peek into my winter decor before I switch everything out for spring!

As you’ll begin to see once I share more decor, navy is the common theme throughout my house. It’s the base color that stays consistent through every season, and in every room that’s open. I just love it!

For winter, I decided to go with a blue/teal theme. I love color, and I thought that using cool colors in the common areas was the best way to decorate for winter without being super neutral.

My favorite way to add color to a living room is by mixing and matching accent pillows. I have new pillows for every season, and rotate them out! I do keep the navy pillows, and the purple pillow throughout multiple seasons, though. To save money, sometimes I’ll just buy cute pillow covers to go over other seasonal pillows – I’m not using them then, anyway!

One of my favorite parts about this room, besides the curtains, is the raw edge tables. I had this idea to incorporate raw wood into my home decor, so I found some wood slabs and had my dad show my how to finish them. I spent about a month sanding these beauties and finishing them so they look like THIS! I just love them & they are a great conversation starter when I have guests over.

Hopefully you enjoy this, and let me know below in the comments what you want to see in A Home Built for Joy next!!

Curious where I got everything? Below are some links that I could find! If I didn’t include something, I’m happy to share:

Curtain panels are from Wayfair
Most pillows & the blue blanket are from At Home
White TV Stand & Dresser are from IKEA
End Tables I thrifted from Facebook – they will both be black eventually haha
Raw Edge tables were made be ME and my dad!
Couches are from Ashley Furniture
Blue Accent Chairs are from At Home
Navy Dish chair is from Walmart
Gold Spiral Mirror is from At Home
Gold Round Mirror is from Target
Wine Rack & table tray is from At Home
Gallery wall picture frames are also from IKEA
Tri-pod floor lamp is from Kohls
Tri-pod table lamp is from IKEA, but has been discontinued (insert SAD face here because I didn’t get a chance to buy the matching lamp for the other end table before it was out of stock!)
Blue glass lamp was an old water jug from my grandparent’s farm that my dad turned into a lamp for me
Blue Hallway table was thrifted from Facebook & painted!

Also…. I probably should have dusted before this pictures were taken haha maybe next time!
