A graduation season filled with confidence, joy, and a little red heel magic.

There are some sessions that feel like more than just taking pictures, and Lizzie’s graduation portraits at Otterbein University were exactly that.

After years of hard work, late nights, memories, friendships, and everything that comes with college life, Lizzie officially graduated from Otterbein University. So naturally, we had to celebrate this milestone with a session that felt just as joyful and confident as she did.

For the first part of her session, Lizzie stepped out in a classic white dress paired with bold red heels. The combination was simple, polished, and completely her. We photographed her around campus, using the beautiful brick architecture, mature trees, greenery, and even some of Otterbein’s historic details as the backdrop.

One of my favorite things about photographing seniors and graduates is finding those little details that make a location feel personal. The brick pillar marked “1913” gave us the perfect architectural backdrop, while the surrounding greenery brought in that bright, natural feeling I love so much. The result was a set of portraits that felt timeless without feeling overly posed.

And then came the moment that really brought the whole story together: Lizzie in her graduation cap and gown.

Walking down the campus pathway in her cap and gown, holding her “Miss Valdez” graduation cap, she looked every bit like someone ready to step into her next chapter. The colorful stole, graduation cords, black gown, and those same red heels added personality to an otherwise traditional graduation look.

That is what I love about graduation photography. It isn’t just about documenting what someone wore or where they went to school. It is about capturing the feeling of finally reaching something you worked so hard for.

Lizzie’s session was full of those little moments. The proud smile. The confident posture. The excitement of knowing that one chapter is officially complete and another is just beginning.

As a photographer, my goal is always to create images that spark confidence and joy, and sessions like this are exactly why I love what I do. I want my clients to walk away with photographs that don’t just remind them what they looked like, but remind them how they felt in that moment.

And Lizzie? She absolutely brought the confidence.

Congratulations, Lizzie! Your Otterbein chapter may be complete, but I have a feeling this next one is going to be pretty incredible.
